Did you know that 17th May is World Telecommunication and Information Society Day?
World Telecommunication Day has been celebrated annually on 17 May ever since 1969. It marks the founding of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and also the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865. Telecoms have come a long way since then!
This year’s theme is ‘Digital technologies for older persons and healthy ageing’. The purpose is to raise awareness of the important role of telecommunications in supporting people to stay healthy, connected and independent.
